Vertical Alignment - What students need
What's essential for all students? What do students need from their last two years of high school to successfully transition to a post secondary 21st century world?
*An authentic and relevant senior year. *Early college experiences (on campus if possible) *Real choices for kids - choices that let them "get started" on their future *When you are ready to go, you go. But, how do you determine readiness? *Internships are valuable.
Students need technology literacy. Its a huge part of their life that should be reflected in their education. (How to use the technology, how to be safe, what exists, etc)
Flexibility to choose a pathway that appeals to them while still having a safety net in place. Very focused pathways are appealing when they provide real world skills, certificates and experiences. This connects to our requirements for voc and kids getting certificates as an outcome of these programs. Kids need a variety of early college experience options. Building in more job shadows and early work internship experiences is important.
